The Pribaikalsky district is located in the central part of Buryatia. It was founded in 1940; its area is 15,472 square kilometers. The center of Pribaikalsky district is the village of Turuntayevo. The distance from the village to Ulan-Ude is 52 kilometers.
The Pribaikalsky district is notable for its architectural monuments – Orthodox churches. There is the only female Orthodox monastery in Buryatia in the village of Baturino – the Sretensky Monastery. Holy Trinity Selenga Eparchial Monastery is located in the village of Troitskoe. And there is the Spassky church in the village of Turuntayevo.
It is one of the most interesting and unusual geological monuments of nature of the eastern coast of Lake Baikal. This is a natural sculpture resembling a tortoise with an outstretched neck, located on the northern outskirts of the village of Turka.
One of the most popular resorts in Buryatia is in the village of Goryachinsk, 188 kilometers from Ulan-Ude. Its healing springs became known in the 18th century, they help to cope with a variety of diseases. The village of Goryachinsk is located in a picturesque place among coniferous forests, on the shore of a shallow bay with beautiful sandy beaches. The terrain has a special microclimate – it is a bit warmer in winter and not so hot in the summer.
The village of Gremyachinsk
It is the first village on the coast of Lake Baikal along the Barguzin tract. It is located at the mouth of the Kika River, 138 kilometers from Ulan-Ude. It was founded by immigrants-Old Believers, who came from Tarbagatai and Mukhorshibirskaya land. There are several picturesque lakes near the village: Dikoe, Maloye and Bolshoye Dukhovoye.
Kolok Lake is one of the significant water sites of Buryatia, located in the upper reaches of the Itantsy River. The area of the lake is 3 square kilometers, the average depth is10 meters. Kolok is a part of the Pribaikalsky Reserve. It is located in a picturesque mountain taiga, surrounded by mighty spruce, lariks, and fir-tree.
Khaim is pure and cold watered river with good fishing opportunities. There are rich hunting grounds and berry beds around the river.
Zolotoy Kliuch Well
It is located in the middle reaches of the Turka River, near the village of Zolotoy Kliuch. The well is under state protection and has the therapeutic value. There are nine springs with different temperatures of water.
